What You Need to Know About the January 5th ‘War Council’ Meeting

What are we talking about?

On the eve before the insurrection at the United States capitol, key players in Trump’s team met in secret. Roughly 15 high ranking officials and allies to the former President met at Trump’s private residence in the Trump International Hotel located in Washington D.C. on January 5th, 2021.

Despite many social media posts throughout the evening by key players, many attendees are now walking back their participation in the January 5th meeting. While the social media posts gave us real-time insight into who may have been in attendance at said meeting, it remains unclear if President Trump attended or even participated in the meeting itself. Several members of his family and trusted officials were at the meeting, including his sons Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump.

Throughout this article, the meeting will be broken down by who was there, rumors surrounding the event, what facts we have, and why it is so important that we investigate this chilling meeting further. Throughout the article, the meeting on January 5th will be referred to as the ‘War Council’ meeting. The term ‘War Council’ was coined for this situation by Seth Abramson. Abramson is a curative journalist who has written extensively on both the January 5th meeting and the corruption that surrounds much, if not all, of Trump’s presidency.

Who was there?

• Donald Trump Jr. — The President’s oldest son
• Eric Trump — The next oldest son of the President
• Michael Flynn — Former National Security Advisor to the President, and he has some interesting history in that position. Flynn was investigated by Robert Mueller, charged, and plead guilty to “willfully and knowingly” making “false, fictitious, and fraudulent statements” to the FBI, but the case was eventually dropped. Flynn was pardoned by President Trump in December of 2020. Flynn also organized the Stop the Steal/March to Save America rally that led up to the insurrection.
