Spring Fever

A Poem

There was a spark -
Glimmering in the reflection
Of your iris
As I pulled you
Closer to me.
I soaked up all the heat,
Wrapped in your heartbeat.
Wrapped in your lies
I did not see the flames
Climbing ever higher.
The spark here is very real -
Real enough to burn
This whole town
Down to embers;
Real enough to destroy
Any traces of us,
Of you,
Or me.
