A Poem

The spider web above my bed
Reminds me of all the lies
I’ve caught myself in.
Your breathing next to me
Reminds me that you’re still here.
You’re still here
And it preemptively reminds me
That one day you won’t be.
I am preemptively empty
And now I am reminded:
Why do you even want me?
The laundry in the corner
Reminds me I have work
To do tomorrow.
My brain reminds me
That I could just do it now.
My body yells at me,
My legs beg for rest,
My brain reminds me
That this is why you’ll leave me.
My limbs remind me
That I am holding you.
I am reminded why I stay.
