Phantom Pains

A Poem

It was a nightmare.
Passing through a campus
That I only saw through you.
Living in a city
I’ve known for 2 decades
Watching it suddenly decayed
By those days with you.
That apartment where we screamed
So close to each other’s faces
And scared all your roommates away.
Back when it was fighting
For us, not fighting me;
Fighting for her but never for me.
Now I pass these crowded streets
Searching the face of every pedestrian…
