I used to be invincible.

On May 1st, 2008, I had my tenth birthday party. I invited Cameron France, the first person to befriend me when I moved, the girl with the crazy, afrotastic hair; Laura Broadly, another friend, the dancer who lived three streets over; and Larissa Annan, my old family friend, the only person who stayed in my life after the move. Larissa wouldn’t be able to make it to the party on time, using the excuse of a softball game to justify why she would be late. She said she would meet us at the restaurant, so she would make it there before the party truly began. Before we went to Ham’s, all the other girls watched me open my gifts.

My parents got me a new sound system for my computer, because I busted my old ones the month before, blaring Taylor Swift to the point that my neighbor knocked on my bedroom window and asked me to turn it down. When we finally got to dinner, and us “young adults” asked for a table separate from my parent, although we coerced them into paying for our meals. I ordered Mozzarella sticks and ended up only getting to eat one, while Cameron scarfed down at least three. I did not mind too much, because I was having fun, and I was afraid that if I said anything she may get mad and leave or the other girls might think I was being ridiculous.
