The average emotion has
A lifespan of simply 60 seconds;
Our thoughts come like waves;
I could never ask
The ocean to stay
So why cling to emotions
As though I’ll never feel again?
I don’t know what I’d do
If I had to choose
One more minute,
A finite feeling.
In a life worth living,
These emotions
Teach me
Lead me
Sustain me.
Shedding disassociation
Has led me to be able to feel
The way my sweater scratches
And soothes my skin
As your beard tickles my chin;
I feel everything.
So when you kiss me
This minute is it;
There was no before
And is no after;
My heart has no cracks as
Our lips get chapped -
All right here,
Only right now.
