I had to make my mind
A safe space to hide.
When my body
Tries to expel this disease
I feel the need to receed,
Step away from a being
That has become only pain.
I retreat into this
Mental palace.
I fill my world
With characters from
Books and shows,
Podcasts and internet friends,
Rewatching whenever I am lonely;
They are always just
A few clicks away.
I can sit here numb,
For hours.
This is not depression.
Sometimes I wish it was,
Because then maybe
I would feel less guilty.
This comatose state
Is one of my choosing;
It is the best pain management
I can manage.
