A Poem for Invisible Illness Warriors

Those aches and cramps
You’re experiencing
Are valid and real.

I’m happy that you
Are planning your childbearing
By years and numbers.

Thank you for hiring me,
Taking a chance
In the midst of a pandemic.

I hold my tongue
A thousand different ways
Every single day.
I don’t want to
Make this all about me,
But my heart is breaking
When every word you say
Penetrates my fragile senses.
